Chairman PITB Receives Alumni Award 2017 from British Council

He is famous for his work on using ICT solutions for emerging-world obstacles. He is also the patron of Plan9, Pakistan’s leading startup incubator. It is often believed as one of the major forces behind the IT ecosystem in Pakistan. Due to his all such efforts and contribution, He got Alumni Award 2017 from British Council. In recognition to his relevance to the country the Government of Pakistan awarded Umar Saif Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence), one of the top civilian Awards in Pakistan, in 2011. He has also being named among the “The 500 Most Prominent Muslims in the World in 2015 and 2016”. In Nov 2011, Dr. Umar Saif appointed as the Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Secretary IT of the Government of Punjab. Saif’s work on indispensable technologies received the MIT Technovator Award in 2008. He also named as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010. Saif is also the Editor-in-Chief MIT Technology Review Pakistan. Recently, the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Anusha Rahman’s dedicated and extraordinary efforts won the leadership award for Pakistan at GSMA. Gone are the days when Pakistan was far behind in the field of IT and Telecom. Our country, under the leadership of ministers like, Anusha Rahman, is doing wonders and earning fame at international platforms.
